Northland State is an autonomous state in the disputed Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions of Somalia between the self-declared republic of Somaliland and the autonomous Somali states of Puntland and Maakhir. Northland State was declared autonomous on 01 May 2008. Currently it appears as if the Somali national flag is still being used.

Strange that they can't come up with any symbols of their own. Usually, that's
about the first thing people do who seek independence.
Elias Granqvist, 14 July 2008
Are the symbols of the state the same as those of Somalia?
Or has someone simply seen the national symbols used in a situation where
autonomous ones would be used if they existed? Actually, if Wikipedia is the
only source for the symbols then it looks suspiciously like it is simply another
case of using the top-level national symbols because the template "demands" a
flag and arms and there aren't any others, rather than because of the actual use
of such symbols. In this case, the use of such symbols needs to be
confirmed.
