consists of the communes (gminy) Czerniejewo, Gniezno city, Gniezno commune,

Gniezno (German: Gnesen) is a city with c. 70.000 inhabitants. Its
ancient cathedral contains relics of St. Adalbert (Polish: Wojetech),
patron saint of Poland. The first king of Poland, Boleslav the Mighty,
was crowned here in 1025 for the second time. It was the Coronationplace
of kings of Poland till 1320. To Prussia 1793 and to Poland 1919.
