The President of the Republic of Malaŵi has a flag in proportion 2:3 which is red with yellow lion passant (but not guardant) langued and armed black and below it a yellow scroll saying Malaŵi.

I suspect that this flag is inspired, at least partially, by the previous coat of arms of Nyasaland (the other part of these Arms might also have been the inspiration for the rising sun on the national flag).
