Flag of Marrakesh
image by António Martins, 17 Mar 2000 | reconstructed from description

«A squarish red flag with a swallowtail at the top only. In the center is a circle of blue/white checkerboard.» The book says about it that «banners-of-arms, derived from attributed [i.e. imaginary] coats-of-arms, were assigned [in medieval nautical charts] to exotic countries whose flags were unknown, for instance Morocco».
John Niggley, 25 Jan 1996, and Santiago Dotor, 22 Mar 2000, both quoting [neu39a] (pages 62-63)

That is the flag of the city of Marrakech in 1367; the current flag is similar.
Jaume Ollé, 09 Oct 1998 and 18 Apr 1999
