Bedenica is a community in the Zagreb County, some 50 km
north-east of Zagreb. About 1,500
inhabitants, some 550 in the place of the same name itself.
Bedenica seceeded from the City of Sveti
Ivan Zelina in 1995.
The web site of the community showes a proposal
of the Coat of Arms at <bedenica.hr>.
The proposal showes azure on a mount vert a fortified church with
a belfry argent roofed gules and in sinister a bridge argent
under which is flowing in bendwise sinister wavy over the mount a
creek azure.
The church shown is the Church of All Saints originating from
13th century heavily fortified in 18th century. The creek is
named also Bedenica
In my humble opinion, there is no much chance that this Coat of
Arms shall be approvaed by the centra authorities - there is
already too many churches on Coat of Arms in Croatia.

I have received answer to my inquiry from the community mayor
of Bedenica. The design for the Coat of Arms was adopted as shown
there on the last session of the Community Assembly (that must
have been held between 15th and 31th May, when he wrote me) and
got approval from the central state authorities.
The flag is yellow with the Coat of Arms in the middle.
The Coat of Arms is: azure a daffodil proper issuant from the
base with two leaves vert and in chief dexter a mullet or and in
chief sinister a crescent argent. A daffodil or narcisus is
chosen as namesake of the community, although this flower is
otherwise known in Croatian as sunovrat or narcis ),
bedenica is local name for it (in norther Croatia and
also in Slovenia; the Latin name of this partiular type is Narcisus
poeticus ; bijeli narcis in Croatian). The
explanation of the elements of the Coat of Arms provided for the
Assembly recounts how the flower is associated with infernal
rituals (due to its connection with narcosis) and the cult of
Demetra of Eleusine, and how it is customarly to plant these
flowers on graves symbolizing "the stiffness of death that
might be only a dream". As the flower raises in the srping
on moist placesm, it is also connected with watter symbolic and
the rithm of seasons, therefore with the symbolic of fertility -
providing interesting ambiguity: death - dream - new life.
As Bedenica parish is dedicated to "All saints" the
choice of daffodil is even more prropriate. The star and crescent
that fill up the Coat of Arms "annotate the firmaments where
these saints reside". The star and cresscent are frequent
element in the various Croatian Coat of Arms - state, civic,
eclesiatic and family Coat of Arms.
