Coat of Arms - Gules a Mullet Or and a Crescent Argent. This
is also used impalled with golden field picturing St. John. St.
John, in Croatian Sv. Ivan is the namesake and patron of Zelina
(this is how the city is usually named for short). As far as I am
aware, Sveti Ivan Zelina hasn't adopted official symbols but has
a traditional coat of arms that is used occasionally (among
others in touristic materials issued by the County, as well as on
the County web-pages). For what I am aware, they are not used on
flags.

The city of Sveti Ivan Zelina (i.e. Sv. Ivan Zelina, often
shortened simply to Zelina, that was also the official name of
the city after 1945 until 1990) finally adopted officially its
historical coat of arms that was in use anyway more or less
steadily.
The decision was made: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Sv. Ivana
Zeline, 28.09.2005, Zelinske novine, br. 14/05, 28.09.2005, str.
11-12, determining the coat of arms as: gules a mullet or over a
crescent argent
According to Laszowski (Kava Hag, 1936) this coat of arms appear
uncoloured in 1848 seal of the city that gained its rights
already in 1328. The colouring appear in Laszovski's book. An
alternative version of a coat of arms impalled field picturing
St. John and the field with mullet and crescent was also used
(unofficially?) in early 1990's.
The flag was adopted in 2005, white with yellow bordered coat of
arms in the middle.

Zakljucak o odabiru likovnog rjeenja grba i zastave
Grada Svetog Ivana Zeline, 15. prosinca 2004, Zelinske novine,
br. 14/04, 15.12.2004, str. 52 - This "conclusion" on
the choice of the design of the coat of arms and the flag
preceeds the adoption of the symbols in the following decision.
The decision: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Sv. Ivana Zeline,
28.09.2005, Zelinske novine, br. 14/05, 28.09.2005, str. 11-12,
adopts the current symbols.
both decisions are available on www.zelina.hr.
The symbols were formally adopted on 28 September 2005,
readopting the historical coat of arms of Sv. Ivan Zelina. The
flag is white with the coat of arms bordered yellow in the
middle. The conclusion above reveals the name of the
designer who made the current graphic depiction, based on the
historical coat of arms, of course - Lada Vlainic from Zagreb.
However, from the text it seems that Ms. Vlainic proposed a
differently coloured flag, that was made white by the city
council.
