Lohne (Oldenburg) city

The city of Lohne (Oldenburg) is part of Vechta county in Lower Saxony. Its flag is three equal horizontal stripes of blue and yellow with in center the city arms.
Flagproportions 4:7; adopted 26 April 1957
The flagcolors were derived from the fourth field, resp. the first and fourth field of the city arms.
Arms: granted 3 January 1912 by Friedrich August, last Grandduke of Oldenburg.

Meaning: the field 1 and 4 (fesses and cross, symbolize the relationship with the former Grandduchy of Oldenburg.
Field 2 represents the city character. Lohne was founded as a consequence of the building of a church, so a religious building was chosen to represent the Christian character of the city.
Field 3 stands for the Lohner industry. The first industry was in feathers, so a swan's wing arises from a golden crown. The crown represents the wages (Lohn) and price of the citizens' ingenuity.
