In Germany, the three most common linden are the common linden (aka Dutch linden), Tilia x vulgaris Hayne (= T. intermedia DC.), the big-leaved linden T. platyphyllos Scop., and the small-leaved linden T. cordata Miller (= T. ulmifolia Scop., T. parvifolia Ehrh.). The common linden is a hybrid between the two other linden species.
