What is that on the coat of arms? A torture device? A mediaeval hang-glider?
James Dignan, 27 Jun 2007
Ochsendorf was a church center of the region up to the reformation as
a seat of archidiakonat. The church dedicated to the Saint Stephan was
founded by bishop Hildegrim of Halberstadt in the beginning of the 9th
century. She belonged to the early Churches of the diocese Halberstadt
of which the conversion started out. Therefore the wind vane with a cross
suits the church at which the stoning of the saint is represented in the
Ochsendorfer coat of arms.
