uThungulu is one of 11 district municipalities in the
KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa. The administrative seat of uThungulu is Richard's Bay on the north-east coast of South Africa. The majority of its 885
944 people speak Zulu (2001 Census). It contains the former
local municipalities of uMhlathuze, uMlalazi, Nkandla,
Mbonambi, Ntambanana and Mthonjaneni and was formed following the re-organisation
of local government in South Africa in December 2000.
