White flag with city logo.
Eugene Ipavec, 15 December 2005
The website at
www.ci.irvine.ca.us/depts shows a very modernistic emblem, part logo and
part seal. Within a broadly circular structure the words 'CITY OF IRVINE' are
written in bright green block letters shadowed in gray. A similarly colored
semicircular arc forms the base of the emblem, with the date '1971' written in
very small white numerals at its midpoint. The central image consists of a
shield divided per pale by a large stylized lower case letter 'i', with a blue
space between the stem of the letter and the dot. To the right of this pale is a
stylized family group in white on blue, while to the left of it is a similarly
stylized outline in white of a tree, also on blue.

Actually, Irvine has a flag. I should know, I went to high school there. It's
a logo on a bedsheet with the city seal, dating from 1971. The seal is buried
fairly deep down in their website - see
http://www.ci.irvine.ca.us/depts/default.asp .
