Flag Description

The photo of the Bellflower city flag can be found at http://www.bellflower.org/Recent%20Events/State%20of%20City/SOC%202005.htm where it also offers a video entitled "New City Flag Unveiled at State of the City" referring to the mayor's 1 March 2005 State of the City address.

From http://www.bellflower.org/docs/cm_mar05_p1.pdf, March 2005:

"Beginning later this month, a new City flag will be flying over most public facilities in Bellflower. The new flag design, created by the City's Public Affairs Office with input from a diverse random group of residents, business owners and service club representatives, incorporates the stylish flower logo set against a blue backdrop with a gold stripe. The new flag was unveiled at this month's State of the City address, and mini-flags featuring the new design were given to all guests in attendance. "We wanted a design that includes the flower logo, because it is easily recognizable and reflects the motto 'growing together,'" said Michael Egan, City Administrator. "The new design has received positive feedback so far, and we are confident that the community will like the change."

The previous City flag, an all-white color with small blue lettering, has been in use since the 1980s. The City received several suggestions to enhance the flag design to make it more colorful so that it stands out and better withstands weathering. The new flag also includes the City's incorporation date of 1957. The new flag has already been installed outside City Hall, and additional new flags will be hung at City facilities over the course of the next month."
