From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"In a purple field with argent fess is or alarm construction-beacon with a flame in pale. The emblem adorned by or decorative cartouche and crowned by an or rural crown. Fire alarm for the message of enemies approach is known with ancient times. During cossacks time for this purpose used alarm constructions. On a scaffold made a cone-shaped pyramid in 19 tubs with one bottom (top was absolutely without a bottom). Emptiness inside "figure" filled by pitch. As soon as observers noticed from a tower of enemies approach - to "figure" immediately set fire, fire and a smoke from it noticed on the next towers and too set fire to "figures". So the alarm signal was quickly transferred deep into to territory of Ukraine. Purple color symbolizes advantage and power of our ancestors and also cossacks. The argent fess means Trubizh river.
