Inscription on the flag

From right to left, Kee and then Lung. The original name means "Chicken's cage." It gradually changed to become Keelung.

Variances in depictions

The edward-lee.com website shows the same flag design as above, while globalflag and vexilla-mundi.com show the same emblem (three peaks on an ring open above and white stylized lettering overall spelling inverted "基隆") but up on a yellow background with large brush lettering spelling non-inverted "基隆市".
