The coat of arms and flag of Komenda are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu, zastavi in prazniku občine Komenda, adopted on 2 March 2000.

The flag of Komenda is of a design characteristic of the Slovenian municipal flags. A cross of unusual shape is made of a combination of an horizontal division in three stripes and a vertical division in three unequal stripes, which is often known as Canadian pale. Therefore, the flag has four rectangles, one in each corner, while the main field forms an unusual wide cross. The vertical arm of the cross is square and bears some attribute from the coat of arms as a rule. The flag overall proportions is 2:5.
Gornji Petrovci). In the square of the cross there is the attribute of the coat of arms, the red shield with the white Maltese cross, bordered gold and crowned with a black crown.

The coat of arms can be blazoned as "Or, a chevron sable between three lozenges gules, in chief an escutcheon gules a Maltese cross argent crowned sable".
Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05] add that coats of arms with the same design have been used in Komenda since the early XIXth century.
