The coat of arms and flag of Bohinj are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu i zastavi Občine Bohinj, adopted on 15 June 1995 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 44/1995, 28 June 1995.
The flag is in proportions 1:3, horizontally divided white-blue, with the coat of arms in the middle, whose size is prescribed to be 61 x 76 % of the hoist. There is no official interpretation of the flag colours, but I guess they are explained as snow-clad mountains above the lake.
A vertical version of the flag is prescribed, with the white stripe to the observer's left, and the coat of arms placed upright.
The colours are prescribed as follows:Željko Heimer, 20 September 1999
Coat of arms of Bohinj - Image by Željko Heimer, 20 September 1999
The coat of arms includes the most well-known landscape of Bohinj, the St. John (Sveti Janez) church and the bridge on the drain of Lake Bohinj, with a mountain rising behind those. The blue triangle there is the sky, and the rest of the green area is a steep mountain slope. The shield is bordered black. The image shown above is based on the construction sheet from the official gazette.
