A tug owner in Stockholm trading as Ångbåts A/B Grogg
and Söderströms Skeppsstuveri A/B from pre-World War 2 until the end of the
1970s. The Collectors Corner cap badge shows a blue flag with the
white letters "AFS" and whilst is
ascribed to Groggbolaget it would seem logical that both companies
would use it especially as the latter lasted longer. The tugs used a
suffix of "grogg".

This company ceased as a shipowner in 1946 with Erik Fernström re-entering shipping with the formation of Fernströms Rederi A/S in 1954 although he seems to have registered his ships under companies incorporating the initials "A.K.". He sold out in 1968 though the company continued until the last ship was sold at the end of 1976. A similar flag is shown by Stewart 1963 under A.K. Fernströms Rederi only the letter is erect and the stars and "waves" are white. The version also shows on a cap badge at Telia.com although the exact colour of the stars and waves is not clear.

The site also shows a second flag of a lighter blue with just the "F" being slightly ornate The is supported by US Navy 1961[8] in the name of Erik Fernström only their "letter" is not exactly clear.

Blue burgee bordered white; white "AB&Co".

This version is shown by Lloyds 1904 & 1912 [1] and
Talbot-Booth
1936 as well as Brown 1926 [9]
and 1929 [9]. However Brown 1934 [11]
and Talbot-Booth 1937 etc
onwards [except for US Navy 1961 [8]] all show the white border extending also to the
hoist i.e. right round, being supported by the cap badge shown on the site mentioned
above. The company was taken over by Erik Kekonius around 1960 together with other
"Bratt" companies so perhaps there was a family connection, but I have nothing on
any flag being used.

The unusual purple flag with a yellow
diamond throughout bearing the purple letters "ABAL" in the diamond
mode comes from the Josef Nüsse site [5]. The
letters stand presumably for AB Anders Löftberg, formed 1927 as coffee
roasters and who in 1967 bought a ship to transport their coffee
imports. The shipping venture only lasted a few years but the company
continues in the coffee business now under their previous trade name
as Löfberg Lila AB. The purple comes from "Lila" representing the most
popular label from their early packaging; company details can be
seen at http://www.lofbergslila.se.

Charterers only, possibly operated by Sten Siöwall AB of
Vasteras, noted in the 1970s through to at least 1999. A white flag
with a large blue "A" nearly touching top and bottom, the arm being
forked and the letter enclosing a rose proper, and extending from the
letter arm to field edges a narrow blue band.
