About the flag

The flag is a banner of the arms, and the arms (and the flag) is the same as for (the province of) Värmland. The borders of the landskap (province) and the län (county) are approximately the same.

Historical Information: Varmland Province

The arms were granted to the province in 1567 (to replace arms from 1560 which had a wolverine in them). The eagle was for a long time black on gold, but at the revised grant on 19 June 1936, the original colours were retaken.
