  • Overview

This city of 34,289 inhabitants was founded in 1775. The municipal flag of Vega Alta draws its inspiration from the municipal coat of arms as well as its symbolism and colours, except that the silver is changed into white. [The width of all stripes is indicated... except for the central one] Each colour has a precise meaning. For instance, blue is in honour of its Patron [Patroness?] Saint the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Green is in honour of the unforgettable Don Francisco de los Olivos, who is explicitly represented on the coat of arms by the olive leaves. White conveys to us the purity of the Patron[ess] Saint.
