Liemeer municipality

The new municipality of Nieuwkoop (Zuid-Holland) was formed on 1 January 2006 out of the merger of the former municipalities of Liemeer, Nieuwkoop and Ter Aar.

Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 6.730; area: 30,01 km². Settlements: Nieuwveen (seat), Noordeinde, Noordsedorp, Vrouwenakker, Zevenhoven.
On 1 Jan 1991 the former municipalities of Nieuwveen and Zevenhoven merged to form the new municipality of Nieuwveen. On 1 Jan 1994 the municipality was renamed Liemeer.
Flagdescription: Two countercharged stripes of red and yellow, on the hoist-top on red an eight-pointed white star, and at the hoist-bottom a double red eagle's head.

Granted 22 Sep 1993. The CoA of Liemeer is a combination of the CoA's of the two former municipalities of Nieuwveen and Zevenhoven.
