Alphen en Chaam is a merger of the former municipalities of Alphen en Riel,
Chaam and a parts of Nieuw Ginneken (Galder and Strijbeek) (The rest of
Nieuw
Ginneken - Bavel and Ulvenhout - went to Breda)
(1 Jan 1997). It has 9.486 inhabitants on 93,55 km2. Settlements:
Alphen (seat), Alphen-Boshoven, Alphen-Oosterwijk, Boslust, Cauwelaar,
Chaam, Chaamdijk, Druisdijk, Galder, Geersbroek, Ginderdoor, Grazen, Heerstaaien,
Heikant, Het Sas, Hondseind, Houtgoor, Kalishoek, Klooster, Kwaalburg,
Leg, Looneind, Meijsberg, Notsel, Rakens, Snijders-Chaam, Strijbeek, Terover,
Venweg, 't Zand

When Chaam ceased to be a separate municipality the old municipal flag
was abolished and a new villageflag was adopted with four vertical stripes
of black and yellow with three countercharged combs.

Nieuw Ginneken [former municipality]

Five equally wide horizontal stripes of green and white.
This flag was instituted on 19 Oct 1949 by municipal resolution. The
colors do not agree with the munipal CoA.
