The State's Arms are among the most simpliest of the Mexican States. It
is featured by a blue shield charged with a depiction of a "Tiger Knight", former
Mexica high-rank soldier, wearing the traditional battle suit, made up mainly by
jaguar skin, animal that was known by nahuatl people as "ocelotl"; holding with his left
hand, in first plane, a typical Mexica shield, and with the right one a "Maccahuitl",
something kind of attack weapon composed by a peace of wood on which sharp-edged stones
are tied up. The shield is placed over a dark-red mantling. The crest is composed by a colorful
royal plume.
The Coat of Arms may resemble the fact that region was controled by the Mexica.
