Presentation of Ilinden

The municipality of Ilinden (15,894 inhabitants; 97.02 sq. km) is made of the town of the same name and the 11 settlements of Ajvatovci, Bujkovci, Bunardžik, Bučinci, Deljadrovci, Kadino, Marino, Miladinovci, Mralino, Mrševci and Tekija.
The municipality, named after the Ilinden Uprising, was established in 1996 by secession from Gazi Baba.

Municipal flag of Ilinden

The municipal flag of Ilinden, as shown on the Macedonian Ministry of Local Self-Government website (page no longer online), is vertical, in proportion 2:1, red with a yellow sun with twelve "drop-like" rays placed in the upper part of the flag, a yellow stripe placed along each vertical side of the flag and stretching from the middle of the sun to the bottom of the flag, and a diagonal yellow stripe linking both vertical stripes.
The sun is another variation of the Macedonian national flag, and the yellow stripes build an inverted N, which probably represent the Cyrillic initial (И) of Ilinden.

According to the municipal website, which shows a flag of slightly different design, the flag of Ilinden was adopted in 1996 when the municipality was created.
