According to the municipal website, the town of Deir el Qamar was a capital of the Maanid and early Chehab emirs.

The municipal CoA contains the same naturalistically-rendered carnation found on the Rebels' and Kaïssites' flags, also reported to have been on the flag of Maanid Emirate, and a lion similar to that on the Lamaïte flag.
