It [the flag] symbolically represents Sancheong's outstanding natural beauty, cooperative people, will and vision to develop into the 21st century.

It consists of 3 parts

The mountain at the top symbolizes Jirisan, a spiritual mountain for Korean people, and the unwavering spirit of scholars The dynamic rings surrounding Jirisan symbolize the future image of Sancheong's development.

The jewel in the lower part symbolizes the clean streams of Gyeonghogang, Deokcheongang, and Yangcheongang and clean nature Its overall shape is a heart. It represents prosperous life, harmonious and warm-hearted people. It also symbolizes people-oriented open administration, people's will to develop the area into the center of Jirisan cultural zone, a strategic transportation point, tourism aiming balanced development and preservation, and strong spirit to develop into the future.
