From the Incheon web site:
researched by Phil Nelson, 10 October 2005The city emblem is created by taking the Korean alphabet "o" and Chinese character meaning "stream" from the City's name and the shape of waves as the main motif. It represents endless motion and unlimited potential. Such motion is a symbol of the trade city where goods, services, and information are exchanged freely through the port and airport. It also provides a simple illustration of the future of Incheon in the 21st century as a gateway to the world, the center of Northeast Asia and the hub of the region.
