As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the formation of Urayasu city, there was a public competition for an appropriate, new logo emblem symbolising Urayasu developing towards the 21st century. The emblem was chosen from 1205 entries.
The emblem contains a stylised Latin U of Urayasu, an image of the nearby
sea, Tokyo Bay, together with a rising sun. The U has three thing white
lines on both the the left and the right arms, expressing "the spread of
the peace of the mind/heart/spirit", "the spread of land flooded in
greenery" and "the spread of [movement] towards a glittering future".
Contained in the emblem are a desire for and the shape of Urayasu city
encircled by sea and greenery, with care for the mind/heart/spirit of the
people and developing facing the future.
