Emilia-Romagna

The Gonfalone and the emblem were adopted on 15 December 1989. The emblem is a white square fimbriated green with a stylized shape of the region in green. A red line appear under the square with the words Regione Emilia-Romagna. The gonfalon is white with the emblem in the middle. There isn’t any official flag.
Pascal Vagnat, 22 September 1998

Emilia-Romagna has not adopted its flag, but is on the way of adopting one. A proposal of regional law was made on the 30/3/1999. The picture of the flag isn't fixed, but it shall have the emblem (logo) of the region in the middle. The gonfalon of the region is white with the logo, so it might be that the flag will also be white, but wait and see...

Libertà Emiliana/ Nazione Emilia e Rumagna - Autonmist movement

image by Antonio Martins, 26 March 2000

This Italian group uses two symbols with flags. You can see them here and here . Those images are taken from the movement site at <utenti.tripod.it/libertaemiliana>.
Dov Gutterman , 15 October 1999

This movement is not pro-independence, rather for autonomy within the Italian State. In this case I can say there is no Emilia nation at all, as we were built up from different cultural and ethnical areas in the last 150 years. All cities here developed as independent entities, fighting one another for an ephimeral supremacy, under the flags with the eagle of the Empire or the keys of the Pope.
Pier Paolo Lugli , 15 October 1999

This is similar to the Emilian League flag , but lack the stripes with lys.
Jaume Olle', 2 April 2000

"Libertà Emiliana", "Nazione Emilia" and "Rumagna" ARE NOT part of "Lega
Nord", but are different parties.

Emilia Independentist Flag

image by Jaume Olle', 8 November 2003

Some time ago I received from Massimo Bonini a photocopy of a page of an Italian magazime where there is an article about a new proposal for a flag (and arms) of the Emilian Nation, bearing a narrow gold border. This was published in Flag Report some time ago without gold border so the image published is wrong. Bonini send me the article which is waiting for correction that will be issued in a next Flag Report. The arms and flag are shows in this magazime. The arms and flag are same, the flag square and the arms in form of a shield. The flags is describe as gothic shield quartered with red cross (St George
cross) in argent field in quarters 1 and 4, and argent "estense" eagle in azur field (in 2 and 3) all borderd gold.
Estense is for the Este dinasty that ruled Modena, Ferrara. Mirandola, Carpi, Reggio, Novellara, Correggio, Polesine emiliano, Frignano, Upper Garfagnana, Lunigiana and Carrara. Furthermore the mountainous region in Emilia is called Paese delle Aquile (Eagle Country). The red cross is the symbol in Bobbio, Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio and Guastalla.
