Area: 11, 655 sq. km
Acceded to the Union of India on Aug.1, 1949
Predecessor state founded in 823 AD and lasted till 1804, when the Gurkhas

Flag:
The flag of the Maharajah's of Tehri Garhwal was a horizontal white over green
bicolor. The colors represent the snow of the Himalaya and the forests of the
State (the green color was also used for the uniforms of the regiments of the
state, the "Rifle Regiment of Garhwal", the "Kurmon Gurkhas", etc...). In the
center of this flag the crest of the coat of arms is placed in or, which
represents an eagle with expanded wings. An identical flag without the crest was
in use by all the population of the Principality of Tehri Garhwal.
