Acceded to the Union of India on April 7, 1949, Founded about 995 AD by Raja Bijai Pal, 88th in descent from Lord Krishna.

Flag:
The first prince of Karauli, whose existence is a bit certain, was Dharmapala I c. 800. The seat of the government was at first Bajana; after that town was conquered by Mahmud of Ghur, the seat was in Tahangarh, which was also taken by the Muslims in 1196, and then the seat moved to Karauli. The banner of
the family is dark-yellow (gold).
