Overview

Škabrnje is a community due east of Zadar inland, in the Zadar County, 2,500 inhabitants, some 2,000 in the village of the same name. In the law on local administration the name used until 1997 was in singular form Škabrnja, and it appears that it comes in the sources occasionaly.
The coat of arms of Škabrnje is Azure a winged bull sejant argent nimbed and holding an open book beneath the front legs or. The winged bull is an ancient badge of St. Luke Evangelist, who is patron of Škabrnje and to whom is devoted a 13th century church preserved there.
The flag is red with the coat of arms bordered golden in the middle.
