Overview

Kukljica is a community covering the southern end of the Ugljan island situated infront of the Zadar city. I don't have the data on the inhabitants but I would not say that they have much more then 1,000 during winter - in summer, like in many other coastal communities the number of inhabitaints mulitpyies tenfold. The community is formed in 1997 by secession from the community of Kali (covering now central part of the island).
The coat of arms of Kukljica is azure a 'snowflake' cross argent above a boat or. These charges symbolically represent the local feast of Mary ad Nives (Our Lady of Snow, Gospa Snježna on 5th August) that is celebrated uninterupted almost 500 years. In the main procession the sculpture of the Lady is transfered from local church to the chapel by boats.
The flag is blue with yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle. The ceremonial flag is probably used, but is not confirmed. In it the coat of arms would be surrounded with vine and olive branches and topped with the name of the community in yellow letters.

Coat of Arms and flag were designed by Heraldic Art d.o.o from Rijeka and approved by the Ministry of Administration/Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
