A community in close vicinity of Varadin, some 10 km
E-SE. Population 3,800 (1993). The web site of the County <www.varazdinska-zupanija.hr>
showes a complicated coat of
arms somewhat similar in style with late 19th centruy
Croato-Hungarian civic heraldry. It is unfortunately too small to
enable redrawing. It may be historic one, or it may be moder
imitation of the style. In the latter case, I doubt that the
Ministry of justice would have approved it.
No info on flag, and if the design was not approved by the
Ministry there may be none.

Marko Vitez a young vexillologist from Varadina
area visited the County assembly building a few days ago and
discovered there a public display of flags of its subdivisions.
Some of them we already known, while some are new for us.
The coat of arms of Jalabet is: quartered, 1st and 4th
chequy gules and argent, 2nd and 3rd azure a three on a mount
proper and in inescutcheon azure St. Elisabeth argent crowned or
holding a buch of roses gules. St. Elisabeth of Hungary is parton
and name sake of the community. She was daughter of king
Alexander II of Hungary, maried to the Luis of Thuringia and
afterward became a tertiary of St. Francis, building the hospital
in Marburg. She died in 1231. She is parton of bakers,
countesses, death of children, falsely accused, the homeless,
nursing services, tertiaries, widows, and young brides. She is
shown holding roses, but her attributes are also alms, bread, the
poor, and a pitcher. Read more at <www.catholic.org>.
The flag is divided with a raising diagonal red and white with
the coat of arms set next to the hoist. The symbols were probably
rejected by the Ministry of Administration and are in use
unofficially.
