Tovarnik is a community with 4,500 inhabitants, 3,000 of whom
live in the village of the same name, about 20 km southeast of Vukovar. Though Tovarnik is passing main
rail-road line Zagreb-Belgrade, where it crosses border.
The coat of arms of Tovarnik is Azure a ploughshare argent in
pale above a scite and a rake sable bladed argent in saltire and
two corn ears crossed in base.
No info on flag yet...

is only a tiny icon there).

Marko Vitez found a document on the flag of Tovarnik
on the web site of the
community . There, one can find the current statutes Statut
Opcine Tovarnik, 12. listopada 2001. Slubeni vjesnik
Vukovarsko-srijemske upanije at <www.opcina-tovarnik.com>.
The articles 9 and 10 describe the coat of arms and the flag,
while the coat of arms is set above the Statutes (in very low
resolution, unfortunately). The seal is said to be the historical
coat of arms of Tovarnik. Indeed, alsmost identical coat of arms
is found in Laszowski's Kava Hag album of 1939 [lsv39] where he states that it is
based on the 1860 seal and coloured (reconstructed) by him based
on that seal.
The flag is presumably a newly devised (around 1998?), based on
the county flag. It is described as rectangular with four
golden-yellow and three white fields interlaced horizontally set
starting with a golden yellow field and with the coat of arms in
the middle. If my interpretation of this is correct, this
describes a horizontally divided flag into seven stripes of
golden and white with the coat of arms in the middle. The status
of the symbols (i.e. their approval from the central authorities)
is unknown and questionable, at least regarding the flag.
