Overview

Gradište is a community in the Vukovar-Srijem County, just north of Županja, 30 km southwest of Vukovar. Population about 3,500 alsmot exclusivly living in the village of the same name.
The coat of arms of Gradište is Gules a fleur-de-lis fleury argent and in chef two pumpkins or. The richly ornamented gourds is a beautiful part of the local folklore.
I estimate the adoption date tentatively to 1998 when the flag must have been adopted, but I found no details as yet.

Gourd is a generic name for fruits in Cucurbits when they don't have a specific name (like pumpkin, squash, melon, watermelon, marrow, cucumber, etc.). The word comes from "gorde", itself an alteration of "coorde", itself coming from Latin "cucurbita" (Grand Robert de la Langue Française). Gourd is also a Cucurbit species (or rather a group of related species belonging to genus Lagenaria, the taxonomy of Cucurbits being fairly complex and controversial). Gourd fruits are often carved into ornamental items also called gourds."

Thanks to Tomislav Šipek who located a photo of the official and ceremonial flags being displayed in the community assembly, and the drawing of the ceremonial flag at <gradiste.hr/images>, I can now prepare better pictures and add more info.
As we know from before, the coat of arms of Gradište is Gules a fleur-de-lis fleury argent and in chef two gourds or. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.
Unlike the usual custom (expecting it to be yellow), the ceremonial flag is a blue gonfalon with three triangularly ending tails, the middle one being longer, with the coat of arms in the middle, the name of the community in two arched lines above and three oak branches ornaments in the tails.

In the mean time I have received answers to my inquiry to the community officials on further details.
The symbols were adopted on 19 October 1998 (being also the day of validity) with the decision signed on 4 November 1998: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Gradište, te nacinu i uvjetima njihove uporabe i zaštite, 19. listopada 1998. Službeni vjesnik Županije Vukovarsko-srijemske
The decision brings us the blazon slightly differing from mine although it is questionable weather this has any relevance for the English blazon. The coat of arms is described as red coloured shield with a silver fleur-de-lis with pestles and in chief dexter and sinister each a golden gourd with black double wattle. The double wattle is obviously based on the much more common term used in Croatian ornamentics, the well known triple wattle.
The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle, being 2/3 of the flag width high. The ceremonial flag is not mentioned in the decision (but it is shown in the same word file containing the decision).
The decision invalidates a previous decision adopted on 30 December 1993, that presumably was adopting some other previous symbols, but these remain unknown for the time being.
