Babina Greda is a community in the Vukovar and Srijem County,
with over 4,000 inhabtants all living in the village bearing the
same name. They actually tend to be proud of their place whom
they nickname "the world biggest village", though this
is probably hard to maintain, the village is surely the largest
rural settlement in Croatia. It is situated some 40km southwest
of Vukovar next to the rivers of Sava
and Berava, about 10 km upstream of upanja.
The official gazette on the county web site (<www.vukovarsko-srijemska-zupanija.hr>)
has two issues regarding the symbols of Babina Greda (the third
decision being only mentioned as being abrogated the second):

oujka 2003., str. 56 (Odluka o izgledu grba Opcine Babina
Greda, SVVS 4/95).
The coat of arms of Babina Greda is azure a fess or in the chief
a mullet also or and in the base a bar argent. The fess is
canting ('greda' means a beam), representing the legendary
"beam" - the higher non-flooded ground next to the
rivers where the place developed, the star is a symbol of god
Mars connecting the coat of arms with the coat of arms of
Slavonia, while the white bar symbolizes the rivers of Sava and
Berava. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.
Ratio 1:2.
The 2004 decision replaces already comlpicated geometric
description of the coat of arms construction with an even more
comlicated one (e.g. the star is now defined to have diameter of
1:2.6, although all the math does not add up). I have assumed
that the basic shape of the shield was not changed (I folowed my
drawing to the image at the community official site at <www.babina-greda.hr>
that apparently matches perfectly with the 2003 decision
description), but the 2004 decision drops the red outline of the
shield (except it is mentioned to be present on the flag). The
flag is now defined at the ratio 1:2, and the size of the shield
is increased (again with a complicated geometric description that
basically yealds that the shield is high as 3/4 of the flag
width). I don't know why all the changes in the text. Anyway, the
2003 decision defined the coat of arms with the red outline. The
flag was defined to be 90X190 cm in size with the coat of arms
being 40X52 cm in the middle of the flag (thus relatively smaller
then in the current flag). The coat of arms might have been
adopted in the same contents already in the 1995 decision of
which I have not got the text. Both decisions include quite
verbose additional symbolism of the colours and charges in the
coat of arms - the gold colour of the "beam" symbolzies
also the wealth of the place, the golden embroidery traditional
here, the golden dukat's (gold coins worn as ornament in
folklore costumes), wheat fertility and the cattle wealth. The
star of Mars is also a protection from the evil. The 2004
decision adds additionally that the blue shield symbolize the
wisdom, prudence and nobility..
