Overview

Lekenik is a community in the Sisak-Moslavina County, population around 6,500, the village Lekenik itself just above 1,500, located some 20 km northwest of Sisak. It is maybe most well know about the Children's Village located there.
The Coat of Arms-like emblem shown in a lexicon (Croatia Tourist Guide, Leksikografski zavod Miroslav Krleža, Zagreb, 2000.) is probably not confirmed by the Ministry, and therefore no flag to go with it either.
The coat of arms is divded horizontally blue and green with golden wooden house typical for the region surrounded with a silver wreath of oak and vine leaves.

Tomislav Šipek reported several days ago that he has seen on TV (HRT, Croatian national TV) on a report from Lekenik a flag being used. He described the flag to be white with a light blue Scandinavian cross over which is set the coat of arms. This coat of arms is also shown on the web page of the community at <www.lekenik.com> but there is no mention of the flag.
I believe that the coat of arms could not have passed the strict requirements of the central authorities and was therefore probably not approved. The flag of this kind is even more obviously against the rules and could hadrly been approved, so I guess that these both are used without approval (i.e. unofficially). [Unless it has been approved in already in 1993 when several flags have been approved before the strict rules were introduced - cf. Vukovar, Vinkovci, Šakovo.].
Inspite of the obvious similarity I do not think that there is any "Finnish connection" in Lekenik, though probably Finland was among countries that financially helped the community after the war in 1990's.
