Overview

The coat of arms is Azure, an Acorn Or between two Corn Ears of the same crossed in base. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms in the middle. The elements of the coat of arms picture the most important products of the region - corn and oak wood. Adopted: around 1995 (?).

Vrpolje is a community with about 4000 inhabitants about 30 km east of Slavonski Brod, about half way between the highway and Djakovo. It is probably best known as the birth place of the great croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrovic (whose work include number of monumental sculpures and complexes in region of former Yugoslavia and in USA, to mention Indians in Chicago, the Unknown Hero tomb on Avala in Belgrade, the Njegoš Mausoleum on Lovcen [shown on previous Montenegrin Coat of Arms!], Grgur Ninski in Split the Artists' Pavilion in Zagreb ["the Mosque"] etc.). There is a museum in Vrpolje with large collection of his works too.
The Coat of Arms of Vrpolje was designed by Predrag Barišic from Vrpolje who contacted my after I published a sketchy reconstruction on my FAME pages. Mr. Barišic kindly provided detailed image of the Coat of Arms and the flag.
The Coat of Arms includes the most important products of the region - corn and oak: Azure, an Acorn Or between two Corn Ears of the same crossed in base. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms in the middle.
