Overview

Matulji is a community of some 10 000 inhabitants (quite a few comparing with some other around) less then 10 km west of Rijeka just above the Opatija City. Actually, Matulji is developed as the  railway station for Opatija. The shape in the CoA probably refers to the transportation importance of the site. The coat of arms of Matulji is: Azure a pall argent between three bells or. The flag is blue with the coat of arms in the middle.

The decision was issued in the gazette: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Matulji, 01.04.1997, Službene novine Primorsko goranske-županije, br. 7/97, 11. travnja 1997.
The flag is blue with the coat of arms in the middle bordered golden. The bells shown are traditionally used in the carnival festivities in the region (they could be as large as some 30 cm. in height).
The ceremonial flag is prescribed to be further determined "at a latter date". (But as I noticed in some other similar cases, that may as well mean that the ceremonial flag is existing, only that no decision on it was published in the gazette.)

The symbols were designed by the Heralid Art d.o.o company in Rijeka.
