Overview

The community of Jelenje is about 10 km north of Rijeka up the stream of the river Rijecina ("River of Rijeka") some 500 m. above the sea level. The name has clear connection with the Croatian word for deer (jelen). The coat of arms is Vert a deer salient or and in base a bar wavy argent

The flag is white with the coat of arms in the middle.

The decision is published in the official gazette in 1995 and was not changed since: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Jelenje, 23.05.1995, Službene novine Županije primorsko-goranske, br.11/95, 2. lipnja 1995.
The only difference from posted before is that the golden border around the Coat of Arms is explicitly described.
The ceremonial flag is not mentioned in the decision at all.

Coat of Arms and flag were designed by Heraldic Art d.o.o from Rijeka and approved by the Ministry of Administration/Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
