Oprtalj (in Italian: Portole) is a community in central
northern part of Istrian County situated across the river Mirna
valley of the much more reknown city of Motovun, about 20 km
northwest of Pazin. The Italian name Portole is also in use. The
community uses the historical coat of arms, possibly from 14th
century, though its current status is unknown: Azure massoned
walls argent issuant from the base with three closed doors proper
and in chief a cross pattee. There is no flag reported.

Marko Vitez pointed me out that a flag of the community is to
be see on a photo in a book I am quite often using for this
reports, but I never noted this detail. Namely, on the photo of
Oprtalj a white flag is seen on page 545 that quite obviously
include the coat of arms in the middle.

The web site of the community now includes a nice photo of the
flags hoisted on the community building at <www.oprtalj.hr>.
The flags there are from (viewer's) left to right: Croatia,
Istria County, Oprtalj Community.
Beside that, also on <www.oprtalj.h>
you can see the coat of arms drawing, although you may be
surprised - it is my drawing shown below!
