Overview

The "coat of arms" of Medulin is a blue shiled with a white stylized bird over three wavy lines and seven five-pointed stars in a circle in canton. This is probably going to be changed soon as it could have hardly been approved by the Ministry commission, and therefore probably there would not be a flag with it either.

On the official site of the community at <www.medulin.hr> one can find numerous images of the coat of arms, however the flag is shown only in one case that I found, in the mayor's room (see: Glasnik Opcine Medulin, br.2/2005, str. 1). The flag is "banner of arms", blue with the white emblem. A table flag is also used, as could be seen in many occasions in the publications at <www.medulin.hr/glasnik>, in ogival shape containing white bordered coat of arms and name of the community above.
The seven stars symbolise the seven local communities in the community (Banjole, Medulin 1, Medulin 2, Pješcana uvala, Pomer, Premantura and Vinkuran). The Italian name Medolino is today not used officially as the name of community.
I don't suppose that the symbols were approved by the central authorities as yet. Anyhow, this flag is surely not going to be confirmed by the central authorities as it does not conform to their regulations requiring that the flags of municipalities be of one colour with the coat of arms set in the middle or offset to hoist. Also, I guess that the coat of arms is also not to the pleasure of the central authorities as it does not include classical heraldic elements, and therefore have no chance of being confirmed. Therefore this symbols may only be used "unofficially" and they are probably going to be changed eventually for something more in line with other Croatian municipal symbols.
