Overview

Podgorac is a community in the Osijek-Baranja County, about 40 km southwest of Osjiek, 4,000 inhabitants of which about 1,100 in the place of the same name. Until 1997 the community was part of the Požega-Slavonia County, when it was transferred to the Osijek-Baranja County. The ethnic compoistion is just under 80% Croats and a bit over 17% Serbs.
The coat of arms, flag and ceremonial flag are shown on the web site of Pogorac at <www.pogorac.hr> and there is the text of the decision adopting the symbols: Odluka o grbu i zastavi Opcine Podgorac, 24.01.2005. Službeni glasnik Opcine Podgorac, br. 1/2005  
The Coat of Arms of Podgorac is: azure a garb or and on a border sable eighteen lozenges or. The symbolic is explained in the decision: ear garb signifies the argicultural base of the region while the bordure is taken from the family coat of arms of Pejacevic, who owned Podgorac among their other possesions.
The flag is light blue with the coat of arms bordered yellow in the middle.
The Ceremonial Flag, which is not mentioned in the decision, but is shown on the site, is a blue gonfalon ending triangularly with golden fringe. In the middle is the yellow bordered coat of arms topped with the name of the community and with two bunches of ears below it.
