Flag of the Nguema period

Under the regime of Francisco Marcia Nguema 1973-1979 very different arms were in use for the same national flag.

Nick Kariyasu, 10 April 1998

During the Nguema period the coat of arms in state and war flags and ensigns was changed - a combination of different tools and swords with a cock over all, and motto on two stipes, in the middle of the arms 'Trabajo' (work), and below 'Unitad, Paz, Justicia' (Unity, Peace, Justice).
This flag is shown in Smith 1980 for all purposes (i.e. for civilians also). Proportions are also different 5:8~ (1968 flag was 2:3~)
