Overview

Zamora Chinchipe is the southernmost province of Ecuador in Amazonica region. The capital is Zamora.

The website <www.cuencanet.com>, shows the above flag (with green middle stripe), while other site reported by Jarig, shows another flag (see: Reporeted Flag). Was there a flag change?

Smith reports green over white. I posted diagonally upper hoist to lower fly, yellow and green. Flagmaster 60 report the same but lower hoist to upper fly, green at hoist and yellow at fly. Similar flag was indicated to me by an Ecuatorian from memory, but I draw it with red instead yellow in the fly (which was wrong). Prof. Restrepo said that the flag was changed to horizontal W-V-Y but that was never confirmed.

The site <www.hcpzch.com> also show the triband flag as the provincial flag (middle stripe looks black thou).

The anthem doesn't seem to mention the white at all. Whatever flag is currently valid, it appears at the time the anthem was written the flag was a bicolour.

The supposed coat of arms of Zamora Chinchipe they shows has a scroll which read "CONSEJO CANTONAL DE ZAMORA" So I somehow think that the shown flag is from Zamora canton, too.

The Zamora canton flag presented recently is a white over black biband. Two possible explanation: Zamora canton had the yellow-green flag that was changed to white over black; The city itself may have one of those flags.
