Lloyd's Book of House Flags and Funnels (1912) shows the house flag
of the company (#37, p. 38), based in Hamburg, as subsequently shown by
Wedge, but with some differences:
- the nine stripes are of equal width;
- the "F" is placed in an oval;
- the "F" is seriffed.
It seems that Lloyd's was the main source of information for Wedge. All the house flags I have hitherto found in the FOTW website "as shown by Wedge" are also shown in Lloyd's. Of course, the size of the sample is too small to conclude since I have browsed only the first two pagesof Lloyd's.
The title of the book "D. Fuhrmann, Nissle & Günther Nflg. ("Nachfolger",
"Successors"), 1840-1965", published in 1965, seems to indicate that this
venerable company was founded in 1840. The company is still registered
as a container operator in Bremerhaven.
