Parum (c. 1,000 inhabitants), a part (= village) of the municipality of
Gülzow, Amt Steintanz-Warnowtal, is located 8 km west of Güstrow.
Accordong to the "Schweriner
Volkszeitung", 21 May 2008, Parum has unveiled its flag and arms during
the celebration of the 775th anniversary of the town. The symbols were
designed by Wilhelm Meier, from Parum, who explained them as follows:
- the arms show on a green field five golden balls and a yellow chief,
charged with a green cross in canton. The arms are registered and recognized
by the heraldic society "Schwarzer Löwe" (The Black Lion).
They will be shown in the Quedlinburg Roll of Arms;
- the flag is derived from the arms. It is shown in a vertical display,
horizontally divided yellow-green-yellow-green, 1:2:1:2.
Yellow and green were chosen as the town's colours during the celebration
of the 750th anniversary of the town.
