From Ralf Hartemink's International
Civic Arms website: The arms were granted on March 17, 1960 and reconfirmed
on August 23, 1972.
The arms show in the right part the chapel of St. Mary, which was built
in the 8th century. The chapel is considered the National Shrine of Bavaria.
The left part shows the arms of Bavaria, on the one hand as a symbol of
the state, and on the other hand they are a reminder of the fact that in
Gurghausen a large castle (built in the 13th century) was owned by the
Dukes of Bavaria. Furthermore the monastery in Altötting was founded by
the Bavarian Dukes.

Here the flag of Marktl am Inn. Marktl is the birthplace of the Josef
Cardinal Ratzinger, the current Pope Benedict XVI. The choice of the Pope
Benedict XVI awoke this place on the river Inn and it became a pilgrimage place
of many catholics.

I made a photograph of the flag on 15 June 2006. So I can provide a
somewhat more accurate gif.
The arms is: "Unter Schildhaupt mit den bayerischen Rauten in Silber
ein schwarzer Schiffshaken, der unten mit einem gekürzten goldenen Balken
überdeckt ist." [1]
My translation: "Under a chief with the Bavarian lozenges, Argent,
a boat-hook Sable charged in base with a bar couped Or."
The flag colours were adopted 11 November 1983. [2]
