Is this a trilobite? A trilobite is a primitive arthropod (kind of invertebrate) with a body divided into three sections (cephalon, thorax, pygidium). Trilobites were the inhabitants of the Cambrian seas (c. 500 m. years ago); they became extinct in the Permian period (c. 250 m. years ago).
Jorge Candeias, 7 May 2001

Yes, it is the trilobite. The story is simple: Skryje is a village situated in the paleontologically important region near Prague where the famous French paleontologist Joachim Barrande described many species of fossil animals. So the area is called "Barrandien".

It certainly looks like it's supposed to be a trilobite. Is it anywhere near Klonk? Klonk, a site near Suchomasty, Beroun district, is the Global Boundary Stratotype for the Silurian-Devonian period boundary, and as such has considerable claim to fame in the geological realm. Other minor boundary locations in the Czech Republic (or at least in the former Czechoslovakia) are at Pozary and Velka Chuckle. I don't know if the boundary is based on trilobite faunas or not, but it is in the right time frame.  It is quite possible the citizens are very proud of their trilobites.

Yes, it is a trilobite! The actual flag has a better resolution of the little animal, almost tridimensional. Mine is very schematic.
