Praha-Benice flag

Praha-Benice, the Prague capital region - flag adopted 9 Nov 2004 - after image on this site - designed by Arnošt Drozd.
Actually Benice is a little village with 450 inhabitants c. 15 km southeast of Prague. The crozier symbolizes St. Procopius, the bishop of Scythopolis (Bethsan), who was beheaded in 303 after refusing to obey emperor Flavius' command to sacrifice to the gods.
The coach symbolizes the famous Old Kladruby coach-horse, which has been bred here for over 400 years.
